Default Fairing Air Deflector

I'm considering adding the Fairing Air Deflector to my 09 Street Glide. I don't particularly care for the looks of it, but for those of you who have it, is it functional?

Thanks for any help

If your talking about the adjustable wings on the sides yes that are very functional. Fully open you can direct more air onto you upper body and face. Half open feels same as with no wings, closed you'll feel less wind.

I agree - very functional! They do direct a fair amount of air at your chest.
This time of year they also block a little more cold when closed.
Another option is the non-adjustables from the 07 and earlier models. 3 thumbscrews each and you're back to the original SG look. I guess you could also use the thumbscrews on the adjustables.

I have them on mine and the wifes. They don't hurt the looks and they do help with wind buffeting

They are functional. Nice to get the extra air when it's warm out, or close them to get a little less air hitting the body.

I use mine all the time. Open when on the streets and closed when on highway.

I like the looks (dark smoke) but honestly don't think they do a damn thing opened or closed.

I put the HD adjustables on my 07......maybe a year ago. Last week I went to open the one on the left and it broke on the top pivot. Now I'm back to the fixed ones that I had taken off and I can't tell the difference. I liked them, but in hindsight, not worth the extra 70 or so bucks that they cost.
