Default Rush muffler mod?????

O.K.
If you have rush mufflers ,I'm sure youve pulled the baffle out at least long enuff to hear how it sounds or maybe at least to remove the packing. Has anyone cut the baffle down and just replaced the end ? if so how does it sound ? I 've been thinkin of doing just that but thought I get some feed back first .

I started out pulling the baffle and run it without them my bike is an 09 my baffles are 2" Sounded good very loud but you could tell that the low end power was gone. I pulled the baffles at around 2500 miles and all the packing was burnt out of both pipes. I ran with the baffles and no packing for a little while performance was fine but the sound had a tin can ring to it. So pulled the baffles wrapped just 1/4 of them and the sound was close to what I was looking for but after about 500-1000 miles packing was gone and back to ringing. Then the baffle in my left pipe stared rattling on the header end of the baffle. I pulled it spread the end and after just one ride it would rattle again so I pulled both baffles and cut them I only took off about 4" off each one from the header end no loss of power but sound is good until you really get on it very loud which is good but it gets that tin can ring back to it. If you could find some packing that would stay I think wrapping the short baffles would sound good. I am now looking at ordering a set of 2 1/4 baffles and trying them. I wish I could make my bike sound like a HD should sound and if the wife didn't ride with me I would have on VH big radius. So shot me a pm if you are not in a big hurry and we can work something out for you to try my cut baffles and see how you like them.

This might be of interest. I have the rush 2.0 and pulled the baffles and the right side was burnt out so I pulled the rest out of both pipes and rode around until I was tired of listening to that high pitch ping crap. I pulled baffles again and wrapped both with fiberglass cloth the I found at ACE hardware. Found the same cloth at several auto parts stores. It's used in body work. Comes in a little bag so I bought 1 for each pipe. Laid it out and folded it 2 times and rolled the baffle with it. Used masking tape to hold it on. The clean sound is back and the cloth outlasted the packing crap already and total job was under $20. Something to think about after you mod it.

I repacked my baffles earlier this year. Other members of the forum steered me to Fuel Moto. Fuel Motto will sell the packing material to you. Suppose to be very good stuff. They use this material for their pipes they sell and then warranted it for life.

I have been very please with the sound (no more tinny noise)

I went from the 2's to 2.25's and the sound is alot better. Looking for someone that has some 2.5's that want the 2's for a swap. I did notice that some of the packing was burnt and the way it was wraped is not the best.

Rush will send you new packing for free if you ask for it.
