Just installed the P/C V on my 08 street glide and the orange engine light that comes on when you hit the on button for start up comes on and then goes out then comes back on again and goes out agian is this normal. Also when you hit the start button it doesnt start right up it spins the motor a few times before it will start. Is these common with using the P/C V
You have something wrong somewhere. I have installed several and never seen that. I would pull the plugs offl make sure no pins are bent and pull it back up again. Make sure the 02 sensors are plugged in all the way even though this shouls not cause your problem. I would re-download you map which is most likely your problem.
Like Ptag said, there is something wrong. I would check all your connections. If the problem continues call Jamie, he will walk you thru some trouble shooting. Good luck and let us know the outcome.
I would clear the codes and see if anything new pops up. When I installed the PCV, the check engine light came on. I cleared the codes and have not seen anything since.
The extended crank time could be due to the map you are using.
i was concerned when i first installed the pcv in my 08 sg. starting seemed weird, then i called keith at fuelmoto, and he told me to just turn on the ignition, and hit the starter button. works great. from what i understand that yellow light in the gauge that stays on for a few seconds before starting is doing a diagnostics on the status of all the bulbs. i took keiths recommendation, and it starts right up without waiting till the light goes out. i did have the orange light come on once, and stay on after starting. turned off the motor and re started, no issues since.
You don't have to wait for the light to go out. Power it up and fire it up. Won't hurt a thing. If the light is coming back on, you have a stored code. Get your manuel, check the code to see what it is and clear it. I wouldn't worry too much about it.
Ok lets go back to the beginning... The reason your light comes on then goes out and comes on again for a few seconds is because you have a code stored.. Sometime or another the bike didnt like something and tossed up a code.. Its prolly nothing serious but you should look at the service manual or do a search here on how to retrieve it and look at it then you can delete it although after so many ignition cycles it should delete itself.. If it was an important code it would keep the light on all the time . Ok that said as far as starting I have a PCIII and i never wait for the light to go out then the bike starts right up.. the line that powers the PC goes dead when the engine light goes out is how it was explained to me so thats why the wait after the light to the bike to start . Your waiting for the PCIII to power up again.
Also when you hit the start button it doesnt start right up it spins the motor a few times before it will start. Is these common with using the P/C V
At least for me it is. Wrong or not. If you hit the start button right after turning on, it starts immediately, but if you wait yellow light to go off, it spins a couple of times before it starts...
