My 02 Ultra still has the stock battery. Never used a battery tender, still PLENTY hot.......... Now, since I post this, I'm sure that it will be dead in the morning!
Now that would be my luck too so i will say that i have 2 years and it still starts the bike..use a tender but has been sounding a bit weaker lately...i eill use it until it dies though.
How does putting one on a battery tender prolong life. My car doesn't get hooked to a tender in the evenings. Not bashing or anything just trying to learn. My bike has 54k on it with stock battery and I have no tender and never had a problem.

On the average, bikes sit in the garage more than your most used automobile.
Keeping a tender on a battery will keep it fully charged and therefore should make it last longer.
Of course some batteries will last longer than others regardless of being on a tender or not.
I have an '01 Dodge Ram 2500.It still has the original batteries.I dont drive it very often and no tender is used.

For maximium life, rechargable batteries are made to be discharged and/or charged each day. A battery left sitting is dying over time and usually won't keep as good of charge. Most people don't ride every day so putting them on a tender keeps them topped off at peak charge.
