Gigantor - Do you happen to have a California bike? Reason I ask is because I had the exact same thing happen on my 09 Road King Classic. Everyone on these boards told me it was the heat management mode kicking in...blah blah blah... Took it to dealer 3 times. 1st time they said no problem found. Second time they replaced the fuel tank top plate assembly. Third time they "wiggled" the wires in the ECM.
Needless to say, none of these fixes fixed the problem. So I began to do some digging myself. One of the members here suggested that it's related to the California emmission stuff. So I did some experiments in disconnecting different parts of the evap canister and purge solenoid.
Turns out, what was causing my bike to stall was when the purge solenoid opened and send the vapors into the intake manifold, it caused the bike to stall-out from being too rich. I also had 2 codes (but no CEL) that indicated rich O2 sensors front and rear.
What I ended up doing was disconnecting the purge solenoid from the intake maniford. I plugged the intake with a vacuum cap, and ran the line from the purge solenoid to the atmosphere. I've had it like this for several months now, and absolutely no stalls anymore.
Ancient thread but.....................i have a 2011 Roadglide that sometimes stumbles and will stall if i don't give it more throttle at a light if sitting at the light a LONG time.
i'd like to check this purge solenoid and vacuum cap idea. where are both of these items on the bike ?
