has anyone noticed idle problems on the 09 sg's? it seems mine(the wifes, actually) will stall sometimes at intersections or sitting still after being run for 30 minutes or so. it also seems to have a flat spot in the throttle just after take off. i talked to a service counter person and they pretty much said to buy a tuner and they could take care of it. what gives?...i thought the damn near 20k i spent on the bike was enough to warrant a well running machine. this isnt my first harley but it damn sure is the worst running one outta the box.
I've got a SG too '09. For what we paid for the darn things, they ought to mow our yards and paint our houses! Take it back! Maybe to a dealer that gives a damn!!!
Sounds like the Heat management kicking the rear cyl out.
I know when that heat management kicks in on mine that it will stall 95% of the time when I lightly roll the throttle to kick it out. Its a pain in the a$$ but I dont really want to shut it off. Sometimes I dont even have to touch the throttle, it will stall on its own.

Mine does it from time to time for no rhyme or reason either. One time it was hot low 90s the other it wasnt hot out. I have a PC V.
A stock bike should not stall when the heat management is ON. There is something wrong and your dealer should fix it. If not, contact Harley and make noise... It can be a safety issue for the rider, and/or passenger.
If it is anything that you added on the bike that causes the stalling, its a different problem...
My 09 SG (stage 1 SERT), and I am sure MANY more, never stalls, unless it is my fault...
Talk to your dealer Harley just put out a service bulliten not sure on what all bikes and motors but it involves a new flash upload to the ECM and tells the tech to check the voltages on the throttle position sensor. I have been having some issues on my 07 dyna and iam going in to see the service manager next week said he will hook me up with the ecm flash for $16bucks and check the voltage while he is in there.
i have no add ons..whatsoever, just bone stock. i dont think i need to buy a tuner to have my bike run like it should. the stalling and the flat spot in the acceleration are really irritating and dont even get me started about the sissy clutch. the bike will be going in soon to get a bunch of stuff put on that was bought at time of purchase so ill try to iron it out then. i just wanted to see if anyone else had the same issues because like always, the tech wont be able to find anything wrong. thanks for the feedback.
Up here all i see is new 09's and i haven't heard that complaint ,,mine doesn't run so great cold but warm or with the tuner (dobeck TFI ) it runs great
Mine has a flat spot too. Very irritating, impossible to do low speed manuevers.
Idle is not consistent, about rattles my head loose and putting it at 1,200 rpm from a stop is about impossible.
A few times it's acted like someone just turned off the ignition. Not good at low speed doing a turn.
In for it's 1K service now, dealer said everything is completely normal. The guy doing the work has always done very well, I trust him but told them to get Harley involved.
My 03 FB never had this problem, my sons 08 FB doesn't have this problem, my other sons 05 EGUC doesn't have this problem, perhaps it's the TBW.
If this is normal, I don't see me keeping this bike, I just don't like it. May be enough for me to not buy another as well, the MoCo just lost a customer, can't afford to be playing around w/$25Gs.
