I just upgraded to 13 inch apes and need to get rid of the fairing mirrors.

I heard there was a plug for it from Home Depot.

Is there a part name or number so that I an go an purchase it with out wandering around the store for an hour?

It's not Home Depot, it's Lowes. In the hardware aisle they have a whole pullout drawer section of "car" plugs. I think I got the 1 1/2 inch ones and used a zip tie on the inner . It looks great and EVERYONE asks me where I got em. Sorry. no pics yet.

 

You'll find them in the hardware section probably of most stores like HD & Lowes. I bought some black plastic plugs for a Dragonfly fairing I use to have from a Ace Hardware store and they had both sizes.

 

seacost harley in new hampshire has a kit that they made up of plugs that harley makes i was gonna buy a set but i put my mirriors back on give them a call for part numbers or mabey DAWG can find them

 

I got mine at Lowe's. About 50 cents each. Work great and are almost a perfect match for the stock inner fairing.

+2 Lowe's. Just measure the holes and then go look in the hardware section, all the pullout drawers with nuts, bolts and what have you. I put them in on my SG when I switched bars. They fit pretty snugly, but I added a dab of Gorilla Glue just to make sure. They also have them in chrome if you want something shinier.

I used the same type of plugs recently when I got an Ultra-style tour pak for the RG. Didn't want to add speakers, so I used the plugs for the pre-drilled holes.

Incidentally, you can find a lot of the hardware you need for the bike at Lowe's. The Parts Manual lists the sizes (gage, thread count, etc) for all the nuts and bolts. Much cheaper than buying them from a dealership...though I guess that goes without saying.

 

Same here, I think they are called "Plastic Fender Washers". They aren't threaded but I used a nut anyway and they held perfectly. Even drew up and matched the curve just right too. I think I used a Chrysler or a Ford to cover both holes with one plug.

Take the bushing (the one with th etwo holes in it) on the inside of the fairing with you for a guide.
