I'm thinking of installing the HD 2 5/8" Mini Black Face Tachometer on my 09 RKC. I was wondering if this is a easy install (with average machinical skills) or a big deal and and should have my dealer do it. Any thoughts...Thanks
No problems on the 07 RKC. Can't imagine it would be much different on the 09, although I was wrong that one time....
The tach comes with 3 wires - black ground, orange power to the fuse block behind the ecm, and pink signal wire that plugs into the plug on the back of the speedo. You can run the wires under the tank dash and up to the handle bars. The biggest PITA (and it's not that bad) is taking the headlight out and removing the spear and handle bar clamp cover. If you can get past that, you'll be ok.
