Recently I added Rineheart slip on mufflers on my 05 Electra Glide Classic which had Screamin Eagle stage one kit which was a air breather, mufflers and remapped ignition originally. The air breather similiar to a K&N and the ignition map are still the same. The reason for taking the screamin eagles off was the chrome was coming off underside of the muffler and the end caps had been replaced twice in the past two years and so they were cheaply made.
Although they sound awesome compared to SCreamin Eagles, when i added the Rinehearts slip ons I noticed a drop in horsepower in the bottom end. I asked several people that I noticed had the slip ons if they experianced the same which they said they experianced more power.
So the question is why did i loose bottom end horsepower?
Secondly, my pal installed some new tires and while he had the RH mufflers off he took off the exhaust pipes and installed torque tubs which is old technology but brought back most of the bottom end.
What else can I do to get back the horsepower with out spending big bucks? I don't want a cammander as i do mostly highway riding and touring.
The rineharts are more free flowing and can give you more flow at top end but in reality they are taking torque off the bottom. This is what you feel seat of the pants.
