I recently just picked up an 05 road king ..completely stock..i do not mind the quite mufflers but i was wandering is there a slip on muffler that will give me a bit more of a deep sound , without being too loud....also would i have to do anything to the motor...
Thanks brummie

You may as well change them. It is just a matter of time! Eventually, most people make the changes.
Slip on are the best buy. Last time around, I went with cycle shack (STA) for my cop bike. Not too loud, not too quiet. My last bike, 06 FLHTI, was screaming eagle slip ons, a little louder than the cycle shacks but still not bad.
You will notice a difference in power after the mods. These bikes need to breathe and they are overbuilt, plenty of power in storage on a stock bike.
Keep in mind, when you do exhaust you reduce back pressure, increasing air flow, and further increase flow with a high flow intake, which all will lean it out, so then you need a powercommander or have the dealer flash your ecm to change fuel curve. So changing mufflers/exhaust is more of a package deal. So just figure all that ahead of time to fit your budget.

I put on Vance and Hines twin slash rounds. Great sound, but I agree to just hang out at a dealership or place where theres alot of bikes. If you hear the ones you like, ask the owner.
Hang out at a dealer where someone pulls up with the Supertrapp Stouts. I just hung them off my Electra Glide and I love them. Nice deep rumble at idle, but you can still carry on a conversation. You can sneak out of your neighborhood with them, but when you get on them they really open up. Cruising along in 6th you can hear them but they're not too loud. Nice chrome too. I'm keeping mine.
