Default Replacing Lower Legs

I just got my chrome lower legs and about to do the swap on my 03 Electra. Are you guys leaving the forks on the bike and just removing the lowers or is it worth removing the entire fork? I got my new seals and oil, just want to know which is easiest/fastest??

I've never tried it by leaving the forks mounted, I think it would be a pain.

Just did mine earlier this summer and removed them from the bike. There is a link on here for leaving them on the bike, but I just pulled em. It's nice to have help when putting them back together, the top cap is under some pressure and lining up the threads at the same time is a little tricky. Make sure you get all the parts out of the originals, forgot a piece that is stuck in the bottom and had to yank it all apart. It was good practice though

How much oil did you put back in? I think it's about 11 oz.

I'd have to look, but it's in that ballpark. My brother made up a measuring device that sits on top of the fork and uses a hand pump/vaccum to suck out the extra. I used to use a glorified turkey baster on my dirtbikes, same idea.
