Pat head = LEO

arm out, palm down, moving up and down = slow down (could be for anything)

foot stuck out or finger pointing down = debris or oil in road to that side

What strikes me odd is that 20 years ago everyone waived with arm up, now I see so many waiving with hands down low. I never could figure where that came from or how it changed. Of course, back 20 years ago, there were not as many bikes out and everyone on a bike waived at everyone else. Not like that now.

+1 Not to mention the funny looks you get from the ones riding w/o helmets. Guess they think I'm trying to tell them to put a helmet on.

Oh yeah forgot to mention only do it when I'm riding solo. In a group tapping the top of your helmet means your tapping out or leaving the group.

Yeah, i've seen the pat head sign. Never figured that one out. Guy one time was giving me all kind of crazy hand signs. Turns out there's not a standard sign for, "hey dumbass, you've got a bungee cord dangling from your turn signal".
