Default Bars

Guys,
I'll try not to let this get too long. I got my 05 RG last labor Day. Around Christmas, I started having severe pain in my right shoulder, mainly where the arm attaches to the shoulder, and down the outside of the arm. About April, I started getting the same pain in both shoulders. I've adjusted my backrest up to the second position farthest forward to move my sitting position closer, my elbows are bent a little bit...did that two weeks ago, don't see an improvement yet. I've read that 05 Wideglide bars fit a RG without changing cables, now I'm reading Heritage bars will fit as well. My question is has anybody seen any benefit to changing the existing bar's position, up or down? Should I just install a Wideglide bar? Opinions please, I'm tired of the pain.

Do a Google on Wild1 Chubby bars. They have a RG bar that I believe provides a bit more pull back. It sounds like that is what you need. The Wild1 bars are also 1.25" and you can run the wires inside them for a real clean look. Not sure if they work with stock cables or not.

Good luck

I've changed my bars to the Road King Custom bars! They are a bit wider and have a nice pull back. Heritage bars would work as well. Depending on how much height you want.

The RK Custom bars would more than liekly fix your problem, however, take a look at them first. They are quite a different wrist angle than the normal HD handlebar. If you are OK with that then you will love them.

Bars like seats can be very subjective and everyone has their favorite - what works for one May not work for someone else... best way is to look around - the wideglide bars will work fine - the wild one 518 are the bars I used on my Wide Glide and they will also work on the RG the width will put your hands past the fairing, may or may not bother you.. I bought the 517's ( I am in the process of gathering parts to change my FLHTCI into a RG) After buying the bars - I had a few peopel tell me the had position is weird and I will not like them??? I have a friend that said he had the 508's on his Road Glide and he Loved them ( he is at least 5'10) So the other night I went to his house and brought my 517's with me to compare (here is a link to explain the wild's bars http://www.wild1inc.com/chubbydimensions.html ) Turns out his bike has the 517's on it - I went back tonight with my Corbin so I could get the correct feel for ME here is a pic - It seems the bars will work just fine for me. I really do not see a porblem with the grip angle... My friend has logged tons of miles on this bike and you could not drag these bars away from him - just goes to show you, everyone has their favorite... I am 5'6" and with the Corbin and the reach is fine..

Forgot to add - another forum member here (Joe) has found some Flanders bars that also have a nice pull back and this is what he has bought... Flanders are Not chubbies - not that important to everyone... I happen to like the chubbies -

Like other people have said---bars are a opinion, everyone's different. I run ape's---I have a 06' roadking and had a 02' king that I flew apes on for 80k miles--never had any problems, that is after I took the stock bars off. Just by changing bars to what ever you decide your posture is changed greatly--My apes put me sitting upright more---MUCH BETTER FEEL!! I run 16" apes on my bike, May be to tall for some people, Might try 12.5??? Also had friend that changed his to heritage bars--They pull back more. GOOD LUCK ON THE BAR HUNT.
