Default HD cams questions...?

I am wanting to change out my cams on my 03 King. My father has some SE203s that he give me. His bike is a '01 softtail TC88 with some engine work. We think the cams would work since they are for TC88. But on the cam is says carbed bikes. My bike is EFI. Will the cams work? I dont see why they would not work. Thanks.

Yes, they will work. But, if you are still at 88 cuin you will loose bottom end with the cams. These are not a very popular cam because the numbers are so close to stock.

Not something I'd want to give up in a bagger even if they ARE free. YIKES!

What can I do to help with performance while not breaking the bank? I am looking to get a good 2-1 exhaust. So, is the SE203's worth putting into my bike right now?

I have the SE203s in my bike but I have the full SE stage 95" kit. The power is just fine....but if you are not going to bump the displacement adding the 203s isn't worth it. There are other cams that are better for an 88...Andrews 21s or 26s...In forget which one is better.

I have the 203's on my 88, and I do think it's better than stock, as said especially above the 3000 RPM range. I don't really notice the bike being slow below 3000 though. If they're free, I'd go for it, I'm happy with mine.

The biggest bang for the buck is the big bore. 2-1 pipes will help. I speak from experience with the 203s. I bought one of the first twin cams (Sep 98, 1999 Road King Classic). The cams (203s) were available before the big bore. I put the cams in. Lost a enough torque on the bottom to make it very noticeable, e.g. had to ride the clutch more to start off two-up, motor bogging below 3K rpm, etc. I hesitate to suggest cams for an 88 because a good cam for an 88 would not be a good cam for a 95. If you're like most of us motor heads, you'll want the 95"...
