idle adjustment problem

Default idle adjustment problem

dont flame me, the grandkids need stuff first, then i will work on getting a manual. but until then, my bike idles about 1050 - 1100 rpm. how low can i go ( i was thinking 975 ) and how do i adjust it lower. all three of my other bikes have either a thumb screw or and easily identified set screw. thanks and ride safe.

I have a T-Max and can adjust my idle (I wouldn't go any lower than about 950). If you're stock I don't think you can change it, but I could be wrong.

If you have an '07, as suggested by your sig, idle problems are apparently a fairly common problem with '07's. Mine will idle fast sporadically and always clears up on its own. A tech at the HD shop who owns an '07 RG told me to occasionally spray the idle air control oriface just inside the induction module (top) with some carb cleaner, then some spray lubricant. It is caused by oil and other gunk getting into the oriface. Remove the AC cover and AC filter element, then look into the module where you'll see a hole at the top very near the outer lip.

If your problem isn't sporadic you should read TT410 (tech tip) for more info on some causes for high and low idle speeds. Email me here and I'll send you a PDF copy of this document.

It can be changed by the dealer with the Digital Technician, and probably with SEST and TTS too.

thanks "I" i found that article and saved it. mine doesnt seem to have that problem, i just feel it ildes to high and i wanted to drop it by about 75-100 rpms is all.
