Default V&H ovals ?

I hear a lot of things about the monster ovals, but I am wondering about the regular ovals for my RG. I do not want to be ticketed for noise. I am looking for just a bit more flow and a nice sound. I would consider SE slip-ons, but I have noticed they seem to rust a bit soon. Also, I think they are about the same price as the V&H. I am wondering if they ( V&H) are as heavy walled and if they would last longer. Forgive the new thread, but I have searched ovals and V&H ovals and nothing jumps out at m that has much to say.

I have the oval with true dual headers. I am very happy with them. They are a bit loud at wide open throttle, but rather mild sounding when cruising at 3,000 rpms.

I've had my V&H Ovals on stock headers and now the V&H True Duals and they sound great on both. A little louder with the TD.

I have the ovals on my 103". They are quality built with great Chrome finish that will not peal off or Blue. I did a ton of research on pipes, with the double wall design, were the best price for the money. They have a good sound without being to loud, when you crack the throttle they give a nice report.

I've had both Regular (Dresser) Ovals and Monster Ovals and what you are describing is the Montser Ovals. Better/Deeper sound and not loud enough to get a ticket. Quiter than the regular ovals actually.

I just saw a nice used set of Monsters on eBay for $450.

I have the regular Ovals. They can get loud when you throttle really good...but you can still pull out of a subdivision in the mornings without ticking off too many neighbors

I also have the TD and regular ovals and love em! Nice and mellow while cruising but will bark if you get in the throttle.

I just installed the Monster Ovals-Thanks to the Guys at Dr. V Twin-It was an easy install on the stock pipes and the sound is GREAT!
Not too loud...just a deep rumble as has been described by others.
Had a great time on the Oyster Run and recieved many compliments on the sound and look!
The size also balances out the look at the back of the bike, in fact now seeing most of the other pipes looks like they are running 3/4" tubing for exhaust!
Thanks again to Dr. V Twin for quick delivery and price!
Now to get the SEST and V&H Duke A/C installed!

Texas Fat Boy is right on. When I called Vance and Hines to ask which was louder they told me the M/O's were 92db and the Ovals are 97db. I decided to go with the regular ovals and when you are in the throttle they are loud. Not too loud when just cruising though.
