Is it a new or used Buell you are trading in on? The reason I ask is I thought of trading my 08 RG in on a 09 V-rod. The V-rod was used with 1100 miles on it. The dealer was going to do the trade with $3K cash back in my hand. Not sure if you trading in your 09 RK in on the Buell is the best deal around. I could be wrong though. Some other's I'm sure will chime in. I personally think you could do better. But if it's what you really want, then that's all that matters.

The Buell is a new 2009 X12Scg and the MRSP is 10299. I have called around to other dealers in my area but none of them will get serious without seeing my bike in person. Fortunately there is 3 dealers in my area and 2 of them have the bike I am interested in. I figure 14000 for my bike minus the 3500 puts me right at MSRP plus Freight and set up of 289 for these Buells per both dealer. Not great but more for my trade in...

I just came from a 2008 Ulysses XT. That's the one with the bags and is lower than the "regular" Ulysses.

Be warned.... if you want it for commuting - any Buell - the heat that comes off the right side is very noticable. It would cook my right leg. And, yes I always wear some type of riding gear, never shorts.

I really do like Buells but having my SG now, I wouldn't go back if I only could have one bike.

I've had my eye on a Ulysses for quite some time but just cant pull the trigger on it. Would be a great second bike for me. Every Buell I have driven has kept a smile on my face for a while after dismount. They are a kick in the pants to ride!.
They are closing down for 14 weeks if memory serves, but this is to clear out inventory. After that they hope to be up and running again. Harley was going to do a $10 million expansion for Buell this year but they decided to chuck it due to the economy. With Buell starting to win on the race track, I think they'll be around for a while and then the expansion talk will resurface again.

Thanks for all the input, I was aware of the heat on the right side and isn't a big concern since my past 2 harley's including my RK is a cooker in Florida. Even after the stage 1 mods it still throws off a lot of heat. I checked out a few of the Buell forums and it looks like an easy mod to cool the rear cyclinder down with a extra air scoop. I am still questioning the deal though?

If they ever drop the 1125R engine in the Ulysses I may have to get one...

I got a chance to take out a Buell Lightning and really felt that it fit me better, much lighter, nimble, better riding position and more designed for around town use). My question is do I stick it out with the FLHR or take the leap into the Buell world?

I would love to keep both but it's definitely not in the financial cards. I would either sell outright or try to swing a trade with a local Buell dealer.

Any thoughts?
You say that you do "most" of your riding around town and that the Buell would be ideal for that. I assume that there are other times when you want to go for a "cruise", with the Buell satisfy that need??

Let's hope! I would hate to see any more people loose there jobs. One of the HD dealers that is also a Buell dealer is the one that told me the future doesn't look bright for Buell. I hope they are wrong.

Has a Buell ever sold @ MSRP? Most of the time I have seen them discounted BIG TIME.

As always I go with as long it's something I want, the cost doesn't matter. At the end of the day, you are getting a new bike and cash in your pocket. Not a bad thing.
