Default Charging system problem

I have an 06 Road Glide 1350 mi. tonight while riding the check engine and battery idiot lights came on, went off after about a minute and came back on. I noticed that the volt meter had droped to about 12.5 volts. after about 3 or 4 minutes the volts came up and the idiot lights went out. then maybe about 3-4 minutes later same problem. by this time i'm nearly home, the problem stayed until I got home 5 minutes. all running lights were working but the rear turn signal enclosures were smoking hot. I installed the harley turn/running/brake module a week and a half ago. I shut the bike off, waited a minute and restarted it, same problem low volts with idiot light on. has anyone had any problems with the charging system on the new touring bikes? in the morning I will pull the seat and check the module for a short, I will also bypass it to see if the problem goes away. Help?

I have posted this in the electrical section as well

Thanks
chuck

Check your grounds, had same type symtoms on my old road king, but all lights flickered & bike even had intermittent missfiring (felt like bumpy road/stumbles while cruising--was bearly noticable till night time when I noticed my lights dimming, dash lamps dimming, etc. . Of course dont overlook that add on, or the connections. Good luck with the problems!

Thanks i'll do that. I have checked the added module and all looks ok. none of the lights flickered or any thing the only indication was the volt meter dropping. but I will check the ground.

Chuck I had the almost identical issues with my SG. My trouble shooting ended at a dead end road. I took it to the dealer and it ended up being the stator and voltage regulator were bad. I'd get it checked out.

I recently put that module on my Ultra - knock on wood - no problems so far. I would pull that module and find out why your lights are getting that hot.
