I know this much. I purchased an 09 Street Glide this year and dolled it up and loved it. I had a chance to buy an 09 Road Glide at a great price and bought it. Big mistake here. After riding the RG a few hundred miles, I started gathering the rocks to throw at the SG. There was that much difference. Needless to say, I sold the SG and looking for a buy on another RG to pretty up.

agree completely.

I would never call a Road Glide ugly. I also would never call one a "Roadie".

Another vote for the Road Glide.
I have been very happy with my 08 and have no plans on trading in. To me that's the real test because I'm always looking to trade in on something else every couple of years.
Now I don't have that urge anymore. For me the Road Glide is the best ride.

When I was looking at Touring bikes, I just knew in my mind that I wanted a Street Glide. Loved the look. Shortly after the '10's came out, I stopped by a big dealership in the Kansas City area. They had a 2010 Road Glide Custom and a 2010 Street Glide side by side. Now, prior to 2009, I never gave the Road Glide a second thought, but the '09 model looked sharp to me, but I still preferred the looks of the SG. When I saw the RGC, it was very appealing to me. Still, I just "knew" I wanted a SG.

Lucky for me, this stop at the dealership was during the test ride promotion. I told the salesman I wanted a SG and would like to ride one. He said fine, but do yourself a favor and ride this RGC as well. I took the RGC out first. I loved it. It was very roomy feeling, handled great, and even with the tiny factory shield, offered decent wind protection and no buffeting. When I got back, I took the SG out. Before I even got out of the parking lot, I knew it wasn't for me. I'm not tall at 5'10" but even I felt cramped behind that fairing. I was wearing just a t-shirt and the updraft behind the batwing fairing was moving my shirt all around. Before I even got above 40 mph my sunglasses were vibrating so bad I couldn't see.

I now own a RGC and love it. I love the look and the ride. Now, if you are serious about touring, there are things you will have to change about BOTH bikes. Shields, seats, maybe shocks, adding Tour-Pak, lowers, etc. All of those things would improve the SG experience I'm sure, but it will never handle as well or be as "roomy" as a RG IMO.
