Got my bike back today. Had the EVO 30 tooth put on, a set of black heritage bars an the biketronics speakers and amp. This thing takes off like a rocket. If you nail it in 1st gear, you better have your foot ready to change gears cause you will be out of rpm's before you can blink. The bars are right on time also. The biketronics system rocks.
But after my ride today, the evo is what kept me smiling all day. Gearing does wonders for a good low cubic inch build.
Are you talking about the final trans output gear? I have that on my 103 and its not that low.
Not a motor guy but it is the gear inside the outer primary that is originally a 34 tooth sprocket. I think it may be called the compensater gear or something. It required a new chain around it and the sprocket where the clutch basket is.
What about chain noise? I heard that the 30 tooth caused a lot of noise in the primary.
Not that I could hear. Every time I used to put it in 1st gear I would hear clanking coming from the compensator sprocket. I hear nothing now and feel no jerk at all. It is baby smooth and quiet.

Just be careful. The compensator is there for a reason. I also had the 30t evo on miine but took it back off. With the bigger build you could do damage to the crankshaft. I know it's a long shot but I didn't want to take a chance.
I put that in on my evo and took it off. 2 reasons were first gear was like a granny gear and 50 mph was pushing it on a 5 speed, and I didnt like the way the chain came off the comp gear, the angle was too steep and in my opinion with that angle something was going to wear out hella fast.
I have it in mine and love it I do have to keep the rpms above 2000 or its kinda bucky and chatters a little but no big deal just keep it above that and dont lug it. in gear ofcourse it doesnt affect it nuetral all in all i love it and will not take it out
