anybody just put a sert on a completly stock bike and seen any advantage? Would like to keep everything stock and just tune it up a little better for throttle response. More power is good but I don't want more noise, I like the stock exhaust
I am not an expert, but the SERT is nothing more than an interface tool to allow the tuner to change the ecm settings. I don't see it possible to get any noticable gain by resetting the ecm settings without changing any motor components.
just doing a sert will probably just give slightly better throttle response. howwver it will help the engine rune better and cooler. which is a big plus.
On an '07 or newer bike, changing the factory ECM settings would allow for a cooler running engine and a bit more performance. The pre-'07 bikes are not programmed as lean as lean as the newer models, so less likelihood of noticeable improvement IMO.

Kind of depends on your definition of "any advantage" might be.
I installed a tuner (not SERT) on my completely stock '08 Ultra and with just some changes in the VE tables and timing, noticed quite a bit of difference in its response, performance, and even mileage.
