1k service time
I made the 1K mark today. Since Reiman's HD in Kewanee, Il. throws in the first service for free when you buy from them, I scheduled the service for this coming Monday.
The weather is turning crazy here. We have forecasts of freezing and snow for this weekend so I will be loading the Ultra into the trailer for the trip.
The 2010 Ultra Classic is my first bagger. I traded a 07 FXSTC in on it. I have always had cruisers and I wasn't sure what to expect with the bike.
My first ride from the dealer to home of about 16 miles had me a little concerned. I was told by many how I would like the comfortable ride of the Ultra. The first ride felt a little harsh and the seat seemed hard also. The steering impression was that it was loose.
It took many more rides to get a better idea of the bike. The steering cleared up when I realized that I did not need to keep heavy pressure on the handle bar during a curve like I did with the softail. It is a very neutral steering and I think for a touring bike that will get loaded down at times on a trip is just the type of steering that it should have.
I got used to the seat and the longer I went the better it felt. I will say that the softail seat on the custom was a little more plush.
I got used to the suspension also. It is firm and again it is for the ability to carry loads. I weight 230 and the manual says that I should add 20 psi to the rear preload. No need to because it feels just right.
I now enjoy riding the bike more than any cruisers in the past. I guess you could say that I have "bonded" with the Ultra.
I am planning a ride to the Blue Ridge Parkway and Deal's Gap next year to really put it to the test.

I am not that far from ya as the crow flys!! The weather just plain sucks!!!! I got about 400 miles on my first service and I'm no where ready to put her to sleep!! Been to Reimens got the shirt to prove it!!!
Enjoy the new bike!!
Congrats on the bike. You will find that the longer you ride it, the better you'll like it. I've had my EGC for 3 weeks now, went from a Road King, and the new chassis is outstanding. Got 2K on her now.
I was just like you, I have had 5 Dynas, and went out and bought a new Ultra. At first it felt wierd getting use to the change, but now I Love my Ultra. I just had my 1K service done, also lowered both front and back also. Baggers for life now!!!!!!
Went I bought my 09 Ultra, my dealer asked if I was going to trade in my Deuce. Told him O wanted to keep it. He said..dont know why, you'll never ride it again after getting used to the Uktra. Boy, he's almost right, but do ride the Deuce on short, local rides, but I think I do it just to prove him wrong.
I've owned my Ultra 3wks right now. We have put 2250 miles on her and love it. Just got back from a tour through New England where we ran into rain practicly every day. Love the way she handles and rides and the fuel mileage is starting to improve to the plus side of 40mpg. She needs a good bath and a wax job now but I'm impressed with the bike all around. Traded a Venture in on it and miss some things about the Venture but for the most part wouldn't go back.
IH4X4 make sure your air supension is is right, it makes a difference and its a great ride. enjoy!!

Just turned 500 miles on my 2010 ultra yesterday. Traded in my 05 ultra with 23000 miles on her. The 05 was a great bike with no problems. They sold it within a week. As much as I liked the 05, this 2010 is sweet. Thinking about going with the Fuel-Moto package. (Jackpots-PCV-Stage1AC)
