Question 10000 mile service why does it now have these problems

Hi everyone , I had my 10000 mile service performed at a shop figuring I would let an expert do it . It's a 99 flh with 82400 miles when I brought it in and I have pretty well performed all previous services with a friend . First day i got it back the primary inspection cover leaked I called dealer and they said they used after market gasket , I went to Harley got right gasket and fixed it . Now I am leaking oil out of about every place that can leak and fork oil when i never leaked a drop and both brake wheel cylinders at the hose connection leaking all over my rotors. tt dealer said he didnt work on wheel cylinders. but did change the fork oil and my brake pads. 82000 miles with no problems one visit to shop and my bike leaks more than an AMF shovelhead. could he have put too much oil in forks ? wrong brake fluid of too much brake fluid in resevor? sorry so long and input appreciated

Did you change from conventional to synthetic? I've heard of several cages that started leaking when synthetic was used after many miles of regular oil.

Truth is, sometimes things just happen. Not trying to be a smart @ss, but I have owned enough trucks, farm tractors, farm machinery, cars and Harleys to know this to be true. Sometimes ya just have to take out time and fix all of the problems at once.

I don't think there is a good answer. It would seem with hard money times or any time for that matter the maintenance part of the business should be near perfect. Figureing your safety is on the line.
Well, it seems taking your bike to a dealership is like shooting crap. You may or may not get a mechanic that knows what they are doing. And even a mech. who is experienced can be rushed to making mistakes.
I'm thankful to this forum giving me the ability to heads up on most maintenance and until Harley Davidson emphasises good quality control on maintenance and maybe a testing policy for aspireing mechs. this crap will happen.

Wow have no idea how they could manage to make so many different things leak at the same time.

Let's see - you performed all the previous maintenance yourself and never had any problems. You let a "EXPERT" do some service and now you have tons of problems. How about some "lessons learned" here! I do ALL OF THE MAINTENANCE on all of our bikes. If something starts leaking, I know what I have worked on and I know where to look to solve the problem. If you think you are going to get EXPERT service by taking the bike to the dealer for service, you may want to rethink this a little. These "EXPERTS" are employees, not all of which are really too concerned about YOUR bike. If you are capable of doing your own maintenance, save yourself a lot of trouble and simply do it yourself.

I let the dealership change the oil the first time and of course they forget to tighten the oil plug no more for me. I do it myself now.

I have worked at several bike shops. I would never take my bike to anyone for service. Techs come and go constantly. They are getting paid to complete the service on your bike as fast as possible. Take your time and do it yourself. Then if its not right, there is only one person to blame... YOU! JMHO

Never EVER let a dealer "tech" (the most clueless hacks on the planet) touch your bike. If you are capable of doing your own maintenance & repairs, stay as far from dealerships as possible other than buying parts that you're gonna install yourself!

Good luck getting your ride back to normal and undoing all the stuff that worthless loser screwed up.
