For those who have the Power Commander III USB, there is a free accelorator pump upgrade available.Supposedly this works kind of like the old carbeurators; when you twist the throttle hard the unit sends an extra large dose of fuel to compensate for the increased air intake. It is supposedly completely adjustable.
I used the accelerator pump function on my 03 EG with SE intake, Hooker slip-ons, and 203 cams for a while and about all I noticed was a decrease in MPG. My settings were: 80% Sensitivity, 20% Fuel Increase, 20 Engine Revolutions. Turned it off, improved my MPG...so it doesn't look like it's a good fit for my riding style. Others claimed to have done a lot of comparisons with and without and for some it makes a big difference right where it should. The feature is simple to turn off and on, shouldn't hurt anything, so why not try it using the conservative settings that DynoJet recommends and see how it works for you? My 2 cents worth....
My tunner put it on for me when he tuned my bike. I agree there is a great decrease in MPG. If you drive in town everytime you stop and then go you are adding 20% fuel. Ok on the highway and great when you want to get on it or pass. Has its application but not for normal in town riding.
I have the PCIIIusb on my 2000 FLHTCI; I 've been using the accelerator pump upgrade almost from the start. I should say that my build is 96" with SE 204 cams. I tried it with and without, and I definitely could tell a perfomance difference with it. I noticed no reduction in mpg.
I have a slight bog just off idle every now and then, I installed it hoping it would take care of this. It didn't and I can't tell a difference other then if you rev the bike many times in a row it is a little rich. I am going to uninstall it tonight and I will post tomorrow. George
I ran it and got an engine code, unabled it and cleared the code. Emailed Power Commander and never heard a word back, I won't use the accel pump again.
