I went with HIDs on my RG and am very happy. Stock headlights just don't cut it for running across the desert. Converted to HIDs, adjusted the angle, and feel much safer. It was a big difference for me but I still don't get many people flashing their brights at me.
Check out the xetronic digital g2 lights. They replace your stock bulbs, so it stays clean. They are 300% brighter, you can see 200% further down the road. Draws less current than stock and lasts 10 years.(they claim) Expensive but well worth it. I'll pay the money for the safety.

You can get the Xetronic Digital G2 at sales@xtralights.com . They are the same lights that come on the new Mercedes and Porsche cars. I have the 4300k color that is the whitest, brightest, you have color options. There phone number is 1-888-954-4482.
Just installed them and VERY pleased. $89 for the plug-and-play kit (2 sets for Roadies, $169), no wire splicing, excellent instructions. State-of-the-art slim digital ballasts, bi-Xenon, delphi connectors, nice cutoff pattern. Had to adjust lights up quite a bit to get some "throw" down the road. Took longer to reinstall fairing then to install the lights.
Fairing tip I found here: remove the bezel then the head lamps by squeezing the green keepers on the inside. That way you can see the hooks when you line up the fairing. Headlamps then just pop back in. Bada-bing, bada-boom.
Parts4PowerToys is great and communicative. Roman, the tech guy also rides a Roadie. Also purchased an inexpensive stabilizer kit ($159 vs. $300-400) and oil temp gauge from them... Three thumbs up.
I have them for over a year now and they are awesome. Like others have said I never need my hi-beams. I also had the Kuryakyn driving lights which I removed as I never used them.
This is the same kit as what I have installed. Everybody in Korea knows it is me coming from a looong way off. Several people have converted to HID since I installed this kit. Most at Bat wing guys and they buy the HD kit. Which by the way is priced a heck of a lot higher than this one. I also got the Kuryakyn lights, I use them so I can flash from high to low when I see a car that looks like it might pull out on me. 4 lights to 2 light back and forth, it gets their attention.
Funny, I think my 2010 FLTRX has the best stock lighting of any bike I've ever had. As for motolights, I had a set of caliper mounts on a Hayabusa and Triumph Trophy. Motolights and stock lights did not light up the road anywhere near what the stock Road Glide does. And I had put in the high watt bulbs. Motolights are nice, but they don't light up the night. They just add a little to the side, which was welcome on the Hayabusa with it's pencil beam high and not too great main. Just my opinion, but if you want more light than a stock RoadGlide setup, you need to go HID or PIAA, mounted up high.
same here!
I just adjusted my headlights to shine down the road more... I'm perfectly happy with my stock headlights.
