07 RKC, 30k miles. I go to crank and get the ole clickaroo again. Drift start and Bam, fires up. Drive few minutes, kill it and sometimes it cranks right back up and sometimes not. The other day went to the store, no crank. Drift started fine. Left store and would not crank, just click. A dude comes over and pushes me (flat surface) tried drift crank in 3rd and bike farted and stopped. It cranked right up after that. What thinks you guys. I wanna say not battery. Starter chittin' out on me? Thanks guys.
get your battery tested most batteries last two years normal best care 4 years so if it has not been doing well get it checked. starters and buttons will go out but a battery is the first check and make sure there is no corrosion on the battery and the connections are tight . check things out before you buy
My sons 07 ultra broke down while on a road trip and would not start. The local dealer found the starter mounting bolts were loose and starter would not engage.
Check battery - absolutely. Just because the lights may be bright doesn't mean the battery has the amps to push the starter.
Check the ground cables for tightnes and cleanliness (ironhead riders - can i get witnesses here?).
Starter bolts, too, for sure.
Then go for the relays and switches when you *know* everything else in the starting system is mechanically sound.
