No point on a SERT if you leave on the stock exhaust. What a shame on a CVO![:@]

Put a PCIII on mine and had it tuned by a certified Dynojet tuner. Gained about 8-10 HP and better gas milage. Original setup ran to hot. I hated stopping at a light. It was so hot to sit on that bike and it went into heat management mode all the time. Woulld run on 1 cylinder and jump all over at an idel.

Great bike now. I am finally pleased that I boght a 06 Ultra. Best of luck with your ride.

I'm interested in the same subject. Got an '06 SG. I'm sure that for the SERT to do any good at all, you'd have to do the air cleaner.

FWIW, dealer told me that exhaust portion of it only provides for a small portion of the gain in a typical stage 1 modification, so maybe one could expect what, 80% of the benefit without pipes?

I have the SERT. I loaded the software and saw that there were different "MAPS" based on configuration. 2 Questions:

1. How do you get a map that fits your specific configuration?

2. When you have the bike Dyno'ed, is that basically creating a unique MAP for your bike?

Unless you have a test bed where you can run your bike up to 4800 or 5000 RPM and provide realtime engine readings, the software will not do you any good. Yes, the software is there for you to "input" the new mapping to your ECM. However, how do you know what mapping and fuel/air mixture to use, unless you take your bike up to 4th and 5th gear? That's what a dynojet machine and experienced tuner would do.

Once the correct mapping is reached, the tuner will store it in your SERT module for future use. Spend the money and have it done right!

Thanks for answering NEITHER one of my questions. Question 2, "When you have the bike Dyno'ed", is the "Spend the money part". I just had that done. The basic question, I guess, is that every time I change 1 thing (exhaust and / or air flow), I have to drop another $200 to get another map????
