WTF is the support rod that connects to the forward cylinder head top side then to the frame? What would be the adverse effects (if any) if I took it off? Tanks!

O.K. I'll come clean, I knew what it was and for just wanted to know if anybody has removed it because it's fugly as hell. I've owned 10 RK's and none of them had it and they rode just fine.
I hate to say it but all of your other RK's had one. Matter of fact they had 2 one on the top and one on the bottom.
