Recently got a 05 Ultra which has the HD mp3 player installed. I did not get the manual on it though. I noticed that the sound doesnt play as loud as the cd/radio does. I did a search and found a post stating that you need to take the face plate off and there is an A/B switch and to move it too B. My question is for you that have this, how do you take the face plate off? I removed the lower screw from the unit but It wont come off, Is there another screw or procedure the get this thing off?
I'd like to know about that also, Ken. Just picked up my '06 Ultra on June 27 and was thrilled that the CD player would accept MP3 CDs. I am heavy into downloading MP3 files and I love this feature. You are correct in that MP3 files will not play as loud as a regular CD or FM radio. What I've done so far is just jack the volume up to where is was comfortable. If there is an A-B switch, as you say, I would love to know how you get the face plate off also without damaging the radio. I hope you are loving your Ultra as much as I am mine.
I still works. You are putting mp3 files on a memory card instead of a CD. The program allows you to adjust the volume of mp3 files so you don't have to have the volume louder or keep adjusting it for different songs..
BTW I was just addressing getting the mp3 player to play louder.
Alright,
Well I figured it out, there is also a screw at the top, you need to open the top cover where you insert the sd card, and you will see another screw, removed that one also and the unit comes right off,,,unclip the 2 clips and you will find a rubber cover on the right hand side, take that off and you will see a selection for either A or B,,,,not sure which one I moved it too,,,,I THINK i moved it to A,,put it back together and now my MP3 player sounds as loud as my cd/radio [8D]
There are two screws that hold the front housing cover on. One is under the cover over the SD slot.
Once you take those screws off, the front cover and MP3 Unit should come off. on the back of the unit is a volume selector switch which has "A" or "B" options.
The factory default is "B". Switch this to "A" and you should have similar volume to your radio.
There may be a small rubber cover over the switch, this is there to protect it from getting dirt inside.
