The best answer I can give is to make your decision based on the tuning resources available. This includes but is not limited to the experience of an individual or shop doing the tuning, availability of a dyno, or the customers experience or willingness to learn and use a product. If your bike was here at our shop I would certainly make use of your SERT which is a fine product. When we tune with SERT/TTS/SEST on our dyno here we have a wide range of data recording programs and utilities available that most shops do not and we have thousands of hours tuning experience and custom developing engine control systems, however many shops not to mention end customers do not have the resources available. Each of these tuning platforms as well as others will deliver a great tune, again it all depends on the resources available. On another note as far as Auto Tune I would not count it out either, we have extensive experience with them and this is a very, very powerful tool. Think of it as a dual wideband datalogger that has all of the data channels right there, only you can not only view log data (as fuel trims) it will apply these changes as well to your fuel maps without having to analyze and decide what you are going to change. You still have control of what is going on as you set the parameters, the AT samples and becuase it already knows what the EFI is doing calculates its target, applies a change and resamples. Would I say take a extensively modified motor, start with a stock map and let the Auto Tune do the rest no, but with a fairly close base map the AT does a very good job building an extremely accurate tune. After all many dyno tuners simply tune to AFR and use it as their only guideline. Believe me, I am a true skeptic when it comes to automation in tuning but this is a common strategy used widely in control systems that is well proven.

Keep the SERT and get a GOOD dynotune. Believe me, it's freakin PRICELESS!! I just left the dynotuner with mine and it runs like a scalded ape!!! I'm laid up in a hotel now on my way home from this tune and I could have ridden all night! It's impossible to describe until you see and have one done. I rode 7 hours away to get one and it was well worth it and then some!!

I agree 100% with these statements, I had my SERT upgraded by TTS and I'm very happy with it for the 07 & 08 bikes with O2 sensors. Plus it allows you to add O2 sensors to 05 and 06 bikes. O2 sensors are not an evil, as we all thought they were. Now you can use them to to set your VE tables for the both the front and rear cylinders. This is important to get the best tune you can, if you are doing the tune yourself. TTS also allows you to correct for a primary ratio change, a final drive ratio change or tire diameter change and still use your 6th gear indicator and cruise control. The spark tables are more aggressive then the SERT maps provided before. You already have the SERT, an upgrade would be much less expensive than you switching to the Power Commander.
