You'll like the KW windshield, well worth the $175 price when I got my 6.5". You'll need some type of plastic grommet on the front inside of the fairing wall after you drill the holes in the fairing because of the "loop" design on the KW that holds it in place.
Some of your points are valid. I will be using a Klock Werk flare windshield and will have to drill 2 holes. There are gaps at the bottom which can't be seen once mounted. The brackets were only 1/8" inch off and isn't even a problem anymore, now that it's been on the bike for about 5 days. You are right about me spending 20K on the bike and I have a spread sheet with every single penny that I have spent on parts alone which is another 20K. That's not including any labor that I couldn't do and any service that I have had done. I am about to do 4" bags with a Bad Dad fender, still need to buy a radio and paint which will be some more money. I decided to go "cheap" on the fairing if that's what you call it and if works then I am happy, if it doesn't I have no problem doing it over. Look at my signature and look at my bike now. Light color ostrich looks good, but was a mistake for someone that rides as much as I do ($800 mistake) Ouch
Manish Hawg, just courious, will you paint your fairing, has it been painted? I guess the question is, in the photo, is that way you will be leaving the fairing? Not that it looks bad, just interesting.
Thanks
Terry

LOL Terry you were trying to be nice. The fairing came that way, it is primed (grey) and ready to paint. However looking at my bike, did make me think of painting the fairing grey to match my bags, but I don't have the ***** to pull that off. I will paint it Black Cherry Pearl when I get some more cash.

THats cool, I left mine the gelcoat black for a wile, even thought of leaving it that way because of all the black on the bags and such, but decided to paint it my self, it was not that hard considering that it is a small item to paint.

Kind of a dead thread, but wanted to chime in from experience. I bought the eBay Hong Kong fairing and have had no real issues with it. It looks fine and performs well. Was a skeptical buying from some random dude in Hong Kong (which is actually more British than Chinese, but I digress).
In lieu of a matching paint job (black), I spray painted it flat black and installed an H-D fairing bra. The bra required a little cutting and massaging, but looks great. Since I have a RK Classic, it matches the "theme" of the bike real well with the bra.
I bought the marine stereo housing from Bass Pro Shops website (about $30). Bought a stereo that accepts an SD card, CD, and has an aux input. I put a 4GB SD card in it which holds a couple thousand songs...no skipping, no changing CDs. 6x9s are rear mounted. I figured out a way to mount my RK Classic windshield bag to it and it has a 12-volt outlet, so I can run an MP3 player and/or cell phone without worrying about batteries dying or carrying multiple AC chargers on trips.
I'm happy with it and I think people who don't want to drop $2000. In all, I have maybe $650 tied up into it, it looks good, does what I expect from a fairing, and I had a project to work on in my garage for a couple of weeks. So yes, the fiberglass was laid in China, but this guy put it all together and made it HIS OWN CREATION in his garage with choice parts and the best craftsmanship!
hey guys I am new here and I am not trying to P.O. anybody just putting my 2 cents in. I found this forum/thread doing a search on 6x9 fairings. Although I to did not like the ideal of buying somthing direct shipped from china, I bought a fairing from Maxshen. The day after I bougght it he contacted me and said it would be 8 days longer on top of the 12-14 day shipping because it was Chinese new year and the postal service was closed and he offered a refund. Screw that give me back my money, so I started looking again and on the same ebay page is a listing for "Recklessmotorcycles" selling what looks very close to being thae same fairing maxshen is selling BUT they clame they are made right here in tennessee and you can even vivsit and tour thier plant. Now for the good part they have them on auction and buy it now with a best offer, I made a offer for what maxshen was selling them for and they took it. I just got a tracking # and should recieve it soon. I will let you know more when I get it.
I do not like foriegn made products anymore than anyone else but if you look a your daily household, shop,or just toys you will find there isnt much made in the usa.
Here is a good example "harbor frieght tools" which is nothing but a chinese import store has motorcycle jacks for $79.00, SEARS has them for $99.00 on sale. I needed a jack for my new bike so I was on my way to harbor freight (about 1 hour from my house) to buy one but I started feeling guilty about buying chinese stuff and I remembered I had a ten dollar gift card for sears in my wallet so I turned around and went to sears. Guess what the jack I bought at sears is the same chinese jack they sell at harbor frieght!!
Also I bet you wont find an ammerican made radio to put in your american made fairing.

Be carful with your speaker choice, in the process of building mine I purchased a set of Clareion 6x9's and the magnets were so big that the fairing would not go back togeather.
I ended up ordering a set of kenwoods from dragon with there speaker grill covers. Also there price was very good on these speakers.
Do you know what yhe "mounting depth" is on the kenwoods or do you have the part number for them?
[/ QUOTE Plumb4fun 4539182] Bought a Invicta Detachable Fairing last month on eBay from Maxshen520 and when I took it apart it just sprung apart! The inner & outer were not matched and I didnt know any better, so I paid $300 to have it painted and when I put it back together, the fiberglass flexed, but the paint didnt!!!!!!! Wound up with a severly cracked in 8 places outer fairing.!!! Maxshen520 wanted send me another one and that is all he would do, I would lose my $300 and pay for shipping again. Left 2 phone messages Invicta and 3 emails and no one ever responded!!!!!!!!!!! Had to file a complaint through Pay Pal and they sided with me and I will get a refund but I have to pay to ship it back($74) and I he does not have to pay the $300 for paint job either!!!!!!!! You get what you pay for I guess. Should have bought a Dead Center!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!![/QUOTE]
I know Plumb4fun his name is Steve and what he said about the fairing is true. Maybe Maxshen was having a bad day when he made Steve's fairing but it did look bad. Steve should have made sure everything was right with the fairing before he had it painted so the money he lost on the paint job was kind of his fault. He ended up buying a dragonfly fairing and is happy now. Just wanted to share another side to the thread.
Well I have done a lot of mods to my bike and still have not sent my fairing to paint yet. I have been riding my bike with fairing primed and still no issues. I should get the bike back from the stereo guy in a day or so.
