Just did about 1200 miles in 4 days going to Laconia. On the way up did 420 miles in 50 degree pounding rain. Took us about 10 hours because were were stopping for coffee every hour, and then stopping to get rid of it on the half hour.
Iraqi vet and getting beat up riding 7 hours in 2 days? They're just not making them like they used to.
57year old Vietnam vet first street bike in 25 years. rode it from Orlando to NY in 3 days (via Fort Bragg, NC). Put 640 miles on the first day. Felt great all the way. Getting up from the couch is tough, but riding just puts me in my comfort zone.
No just alot of riding prior to. I would like to do more miles at a time but, we are usually with a group and to many against going further. Alot of times we start a ride after a 10/12 hour day at work and just are out of it after 5-6 hours into the ride so.........nap time We have done about 500 miles in one shot at this point and getting ready to do that again the weekend of the 14th..........at least the way home is going to be a straight shot, the way there is going to be right after work........200/250 before we will call it a day.

did you do any tune up rides before
long distance riding is the same as training for anything else you have to build up to it
A Sunday loop ride is usually 200 to 300 miles. 2 years ago Albuquerque to Port Townsend, WA via UT, ID, MT, and the WA coast from Ocean Shores to Port Townsend over 5 days. Spent a week there then back home via OR, ID, and UT in 3 days. Total milage 5500 two up.
When traveling long distance I carry a hydration unit (100 ounce) with hose and bite valve so I can drink underway. On cool days it may last the entire day on hot days I typically will refill at least once and sometimes twice. If you aren't getting rid of some each time you stop for gas you are dehydrated.
Longest day ever was 2003 after the 100th; Germantown, WI to Wichita, KS ~ 780 miles counting the wrong turn...DOH!
I did Saskatoon, Saskatchewan to Kamloops, B.C. in the worst weather conditions I've ever ridden in, last June.
Yeah, that one was a tad tough. 17 hours total, 13 1/2 on the bike, to go about 850 miles. Got into Kamloops at midnight and gave thought to going right through to home, another 200ish miles. Second wind.
Once did Sacramento CA, to Vancouver, B.C. stopping only for gas and snacks. Rode through N. California in 105 degree weather that day. That was back when I was a youngster.
In my mind, 600+ mile days are a walk in the park if the weather co-operates at all. Your head has to be in gear for 'em though.
