After writing a letter to the CEO of the Motor Company complaining about how the tires on the 09's are wearing badly I received a call from customer service saying that all owners of 09 touring bikes will be receiving a letter concerning this issue. She could not say what would be in the letter though, only that it will address this issue & that the letter will go out in a week or two. We can only hope that the Motor Company does the right thing.
No matter what H-D does try dyna beads in your tire. I have never had that problem again since I started using them. dynabeads.com If that isn't right .com you can Yahoo it.

Thanks for the post; it seems like good information to have. When did you write the letter and when did you get the response? I have an '09 Ultra and have not had the issue but after reading about all the problems I'd sure like to have something from the company about it.
This should be interesting to see if and when a letter comes out what they do. I went to the dealer three times and called the MOCO twice on this issue and never had any resolve with my 09 SG. I finally installed a new 408 at my cost just to get the ride and safety back. Thanks for the post. Please post the response letter here when received.
Great...hopefully they put a credit on the HDNet, so that our Local Dealer has a means to 'pay' for the replacement(s) that we are due, due to poor chemical composition/design/engineering of the D407's
Just got mine replaced at no cost yesterday. I was talking to another 09 RG rider who had his done about 2K miles ago. I looked at his tire (408F) and guess what? Cupping has started on that one too. Just in a different place on the tread. Will these cupping tire threads ever end?
It was suggested to me that if I can, that I hold off replacing these tires until another manufacturer comes up with a substitute. At 11k both front and rear are cupped.
I have over 10,000 miles on my 09 Ultra and have no signs of cupping on the front or rear tires. They are the 407 tires. I keep the air pressure at factory specs. Do not know why some cup and some don't. May be riding style??????
I don't ride mine like it is a sport bike although it feels like one the way it handles. No problems with it at all.
My 09 Ultra had a front tire replaced with a 408 at 4800 miles. They also replaced a wheel bearing at the same time. It is in the shop today at 5160 miles with a blown rear wheel bearing and a badly cupped rear tire. I'm not sure what they will do bout the tire but the bearing is covered.
I also had a bad oil leak from the trans and they said it had 2 loose bolts on it. I find that hard to believe but will give them some leway and see what happens.
I got a 04 road king as a loaner and I can't believe how much fun this bike is. I do have a great local dealer who really tries to help the customer.
