Guys, what should I be checking to see if I need to rebuild by swing arm. Planning on taking off my rear wheel this weekend and wondering what to look for to see if there are any issues. the reason why I am looking is that this summer I had high speed wobble issues and I have been told it could be the swingarm bushings or bearings.
Wobbles are the topic of frequent threads here! Bikes like my 1990 FLHS had flexible swingarm bushings, but I believe Harley replaced these with more solid types around 2002, which improved things. Motorcycle Metal and StaBo both make solid bush kits which are simple to fit and improve things further.
You should consider checking vehicle and wheel alignment, tyre condition and pressures, to ensure your bike is in top condition. If you would still like to improve things there are a dozen brands of stabilizer kits out there, which will improve handling. I have True-Track kits on both my Glide and Dyna and they are great.
Touring bikes have a stabilizer at the front of the engine and another at the heads, so TT and others provide a third stabilizer under the gearbox, to reduce movement in the rear rubber mounts. All Buells and current rubber-mount Sportsters have three stabilizers, so fix yourself up with an extra one!

it is a 05. I did a lot of research on this site and I know the tire pressures are good. I am going to have the front tire checked and balanced and also the bearings. also during this winter I am going to make sure my neck adjustment is right. but I figure I should also check the swing arm?? I do have the progressive link on the bike already but I still got the high speed wobble (straight) a couple of times. It only happens when I am riding solo. With the wife on the back it runs smooth even at 90
any help? Just wondering what to look for to see if the swingarm needs a rebuild before tearing apart the entire swing arm. I am pulling off the shocks and wheel this weekend so I was wondering what to look for on the swingarm.
