hey mr claire did your 2 friends have the bikes tuned by a professional, they could have just had the harley download which is sh!$, with a proper tune the cross over pipe is better. i would like to see some dyno #s if they have if they think you lose power with the t.ds.

Does anybody think true duals improve performance?
If that question is directed to me, yes I have heard true duels improve performance. I guess you have to assume that some people don't know what they're talking about, but since I know nothing about it, I thought I would ask.
I realize they improve the looks to some owners. I just wanted to get a few opinions on the subject.
No, the question was not directed at you. As I said does anybody, meaning on the forum, believe they do. Two of my friends have put on true duals and they think it was reduced in power. I would like true duals for the sound, and would also like to hear more on this topic?
Hell, we live in Northern Canada, we dont even have a dealer, let alone a dyno. We bolt things on ourselves and ride. I personally am going to the yellowstone, then to sturgis in Aug. and this will be my mission there.

Just got a PM on my pipes, so I'll say it again. These duals are AWESOME and I say they are a cut above anything on the market. NO CLAMPS/simple install/great looks/FAT one piece welded heat shields/progressive triple stepped headers/chrome billet tips/removeable baffles/unmatched sound and performance/one year guarantee against bluing (no one else offers this). If ya like duals on a bagger, what more could ya want and why settle for anything less for your ride? Any more questions?
Hard Krome T-Rex 3" Dual Straights. Any distributor or parts dealer should be able to get em', got mine direct from HK, they were in very short supply last August. Just do an on-line search for best price!
I just put V&H true duals on a month ago and noticed considerable improvement in how my ride performs. There is more power with out a doubt. I had a buddy of mine ride it to see if maybe it was wishful thinking. He thought the True Duals improved the performance by at least 10-15%. I have no problem cruising 2-up at 65 and then needing power to pass.

I'd like to see that myself, curious if the alledged power loss is actual or felt, 2 hp or 20 hp and where in the power range the difference is. If you lose anything above 4,000rpm, I don't care too much. What concerns me is the 2-3,500 rpm range.
mr claire, buy a pcIII and you dont need a tuner. you can do it yourself for $275 easy install. pick whatever pipes you want the pcIII will have a close map. if you need help you know where to find it

MY '03 Ultra Classic has about $3500.00 worth of accessories on it by the original owner. The main reason for my original question is that with my very limited income I have to save for a long time to by accessories for my Harley.
I would more likely buy something that had a more practical and performance benefit than something that just looked and sounded better. I do believe that anything that's done to an engine with fuel injection and a computer managed system will be affected by anything you do.
I'm already getting a lot better fuel mileage than my Honda Goldwing. Some of you probably aren't concerned with things such as fuel mileage.
One of the only reasons that I got the '03 Ultra Classic I did is because it already had a bunch of accessories on it that I would never have been able to afford. The price I got it for really shocked me without any price negotiating.
