Like I said, I have the HD push button with lock, rarely use the lock myself but it's nice to know it's there when at places with alot of brats around. As far as a rattle goes, the spring goes in opposite of the way it looks it should go in, keeps the lid tight and no rattle. Light push on the button with a finger and it springs open. Never had a problem with it. And why does the fuel door open towards the rider? The Moco doesn't want you to fill it while sitting on the bike, safety reason.
Had the HD locking push button and it bites, I usually have to push it in with a key or knife to get it to pop up. Finally got feed-up with it and ordered the smooth HD push button. $23 from zannottis.
Yeah, it's $23 at Zanotti (20 miles from where I live) but don't forget that they charge $10.73 for shipping it. They wanted $10 for handling when I told them I'll pick it up. That's $33 for you and $35 for me when I add the 6% sales tax they have to charge for in-state purchases.
HD of St Paul MN sells it on eBay for less than $28 shipped.
I'm not cheap but $7 in my pocket is better than in Zanotti's pocket. I'm just saying.

The rattle folks are complaining about is from the button, not the door. There is no way to take the button apart to fix the problem. I have wedged a small piece of foam rubber under the button which does fix the problem. But its looks odd and would hold water, so I took it off.
My guess the reason some of you don't hear it is because your bikes are louder than my stock SG or you confuse it with the engine top end noise most of us have. That is what it sounds like. All you have to do to stop it is lightly touch the button. It doesn't require any force. For some of you who think their top end is a little too noisy, try it. My button rattles at 2800rpm exactly.
I guess I could get louder pipes, but I would just like this thing to work as it should.

Beary
Try squirting some white grease in it. My stock lock was buzzing like crazy and that completely took care of the problem. I just put on the smooth push button one but haven't been able to ride with it because of all the rain. A friend put the pushbutton on several months ago and had the buzzing also and he used some sort of heavy grease on that and it completely quitbuzzing also. Good luck, hope it works for you.
