My wife enjoys the Sundowner too. Almost looks irritated when I ask her to get off so I can get a few pics of the bike!

That is a good picture of someone looking mad. Good One!

Looks good, I REALLY need to get a new seat. It stinks when the only thing keeping you from going on is a sore butt.

Take the kids to the Tuckaleechee Caverns. They are pretty cool. Mine got a kick out of them. Pretty neat when they turn off the lights down there and you can't see your hand in front of your face. We also rented a cabin that looked just like yours. We found a scorpion in the downstairs shower. Freaked the wife out. Kids loved having the pool table downstairs too.

Ok, so here is my question. I went to the dealer today and was quoted $325 plus tax coming out to $344.50 for a Sundowner Deep Bucket Seat for Touring Models. Seemed fair to me, better then the price on most seats I have seen.
I came home and looked it up on line at HarleyDavidson.com and it sells for 325, so the dealer was right on the price, nothing added. Made me feel good about my dealer.
Then I went to Zanotti and looked up the same parts number and it comes out to $247. How can it be so much cheaper? Is he selling it at or close to cost, and the $325 is just inflated?
If this is the case Zanotti has got my business.

That's 24% off. Now I'm going to guess that they mark parts up 80 to 100%. So if Zanotti's paid the moco 162.50, marked it up 100% to 325, then discounted it 24% to you at 247, they're still making $84.50. Certainly won't get rich on that, but then when you start thinking about the volume their doing with those Harley riders smart enought to operate a computer and used the web, they're probably making some serious green. Even if they paid 180, marked it up 80% and discounted, they'd still be clearing $67. Hope this helps a little. BTW I just pulled these markups out of the air. I really don't have a clue what the stealerships markups or profit margins are.

A few last pics of the 1st half of the vacation. Spent a week with the family in the mountains, now they're in Florida and I have the house ALL TO MYSELF for a week! WooHoo! SILENCE!

My oldest daughter and I sharing her first ride. She's a little speed freak. Can't get enough adrenaline for this one.

Great story behind this one. Took the wife to the Blue Ridge for an early AM ride. On the way back we went through Cherokee and stopped at a little hole in the wall place to buy moccasins for my two youngest. As I'm strolling through this trinket store, I spy a walk-in humidor. Sooooo, I slide in, pick up a couple of tins of Skoal and a couple of Cigars. About $30 worth...as I check out, the girl behind the counter says, "this Skoal is passed it's expiration date." I thought, no big deal, it's only by a week or two, and it's sealed and kept in a humidor, how bad could it be? I tell her to ring me up. She starts hammering away at the register and charged me $4 for all of it!!! I'm thinking *SCORE*! Not too often you get stuff for 80% off

I get back to the cabin and take a pinch........fertilizer would have been better. Ok, the Skoal is a wash, in the trash it goes. No problem, only cost me $2 anyway. Then I light one of my Stogies. I would have had a better Cigar if I rolled that damn $4 and smoked it.

In the end, while I'm standing at this 'trading post' thinking I'm getting a helluva deal, this cashier is just grin f'ing me. Anyway, screwed at the drive-through I guess. Didn't matter though, got to do about 150 miles with my best friend on the back of my RK in the early morning on the Blue Ridge. Nothing could ruin that day.
