Hate to share this with you working stiff's, but....I started my vacation today!
Rolled out at about 8:30, on the road by 10. Wife and kids in tow in the mini-van, me on the RK. Knocked 400 miles out going down the highway. Temp was no higher than 82, most of the time around 75. Clear blue skies. I couldn't have scripted a better day for riding.
We rolled into Pigeon Forge around 5. While this is family vacation time, the wife and I plan on sneaking out a few times to hit the BRP and Cherohala, and I'll sneak out for a few hours in the AM while the kids sleep-in.
What I really wanted to let ya'll know is that the Sundowner is a spectacular seat! With my stock seat, a 150 mile trip required at least one stop to walk out the burn. After 400 miles today, I could have easily, EASILY went another 200 miles give or take (probably more).
If you're struggling with which one to buy, consider this: I got my Sundowner from Zanotti's for $260 + shipping. It arrived on my doorstep in 2 days. It has the RK Custom trim, so it matches the backrest's just like stock and has the middle of the seat split for the rider backrest just like stock, but it's quite a bit wider and deeper. On most long trips, my rear end is the first thing telling me to get off the bike, with this seat, that never even came into play. My biggest problem today was deciding which hand to keep on the handlebars.
I've had Corbin, Sargeant, and Ultimate (never a Mustang), and they are all very good seats, but the Sundower is amazing for its quality and price. $260 for a full matching seat? Why doesn't HD put this on all baggers????
Anyway, consider this a strong endorsement for the Sundowner.
Glad to hear you're having a great time JMXP, and enjoying your new seat. A good friend of mine bought one just today to put on his RK and we're going up to ride the Chirohala tomorrow, hope to meet up with you there somewhere. We'll be riding two black RK. He's riding single and I'm taking mywife with me. We'll be watching for ya.. Have fun , Stafford
