Well guys I dont know what would make a harley any different than any other bike but on all my jap bikes I changed the oil every spring. I just put em up and didnt worry about it ?
now to me that is backwards. i would change the oil before i put her up, then in the spring, you could just ride.... seems to make sense to me to put it up with clean oil, rather than dirty and let the residue sit in your engine.
but hey, what do i know? i live in la, we ride year round....
Just went through SE Wyoming last July, how can you not get any riding time in? Down there you can ride for days and see nothing @ 80mph. Just have to watch out for the people driving trucks, pulling trailers with a boat attached to that. That's the craziest thing I ever saw! Looks like a snake going down the hwy.
From Cheyenne to Casper, Casper to just south of Thermopolis was the most desolate ride of our trip. But we made good time I think I may have even dozed off for a bit along that stretch of hwy

I hear ya.
That 100 mil stretch between Casper and Shoshoni is THE longest 100 mil anyone will ever drive.
You know there is another option than putting it in for an oil change and putting it away for another winter??
My dealership will come and pick up my bike when I know there will be snow on the ground. The shops are generally slow and will even give you a break on the cost of the service if you schedule it in the winter months. They'll even pick it up and drop it off for free.
That way you may be able to get a few more in before the snow hits the ground to stay?
Then again, it depends where you live I guess and how far away your dealership is...... but it's an idea?
The heated gear's great but doesn't help much with the sheet ice on the highway.Wyoming's amazing, you can cross either the Colorado or Utah state line and the wind automatically stops blowing and the temperature rises 40 deg.You learn to live with being cold and windburned on a motorcycle here. You also learn to really appreciate the six mo. riding season you've got.The wife lets me have 3 weeks vac. and a couple 3 day weekends in the summer for riding.I've been able to log in 45k mi. in the last 36mo's,18 mo's actual riding time. Can't wait for May!!!!!
