Yes the exact same thing happened to my friends Springer Classic. His actually wore out the hub so new spokes where not going to do it. They do not warranty the hub or spokes for who knows why!! Furthermore He has a 7 year warranty etc etc and nope not covered. What he did do though was get the bill from the dealer (900 bucks), pay for it and then worked it out with HD corporate. I don't know what he said to them but he did get HD to confirm that it was their problem and they payed him back... no kidding.
Dude...good luck. Glad my friends problem got worked out.. hope yours does.

Yesterday I posted about a problem I had july 4th when my bike stsrted woobling around, Was told at first that front motor mount was bad. Come to find out just about every spoke in the rear wheel was loose. dealer told me they would fix today but that I would have to pay for it because loose spokes not covered by Harley. 2100 miles on bike I would think thats something Harley should cover[?] Anybody run into this?
Thanks, George. Thought I'd seen a post or two somewhere before, but couldn't find it. Wish I had a garage like yours. We have a 2 cage cageport with an attached 10X20 shed where we store the bike and whatever the he** else Michelle wants in there. Doesn't leave a lot of extra room. But I'm putting that jack from Sears on my list!
When I was at the dealer today killing time waiting for my bike I asked the service writer about the spoke issue. He said they would warrant the wheels as long as there was documentation for the 1k,5k etc services and the warranty was valid. He also said they dont work on them there, they send them out .
