Default Powder coating and chrome

I may be posting this in the wrong section. Search revealed no information.
Do chrome parts need to be stripped or sanded before being powder coated? I am aware that the parts have the color baked onto the surface and any plastic rubber etc. need to go.
Does the chrome need to go?

The guy I deal with does a really quick spray with the sandblaster just to give the powder a better bite. Not sure if it's nec but that's what he does.

Yep mine too. Everything comes out beautifully.

When I had my Wild One 575 handlebars done I asked him if I should buy the raw unchromed ones or the chrome. He highly recommended the chrome ones as he feels there is less chance of corrosion under the coat messing it up. Fortunately WO sells blems that are about the same price as raw.

you do not have to do anything... your coater should do all that. i know that we do all our own prep. some chrome has to completely be removed, some can be blasted for bite, some chrome can not be blasted and to be treated or else it will bubble all over the place in outgassing. it really depends on the chrome and how well it was done as well as what type of metal is under it. if you have any questions please let me know

If you have ever seen powder coat that was laid directly over chrome, it flakes, peels and scratches very easy. If the chrome is stripped prior to powder coating it comes out looking so much better that it is not even funny.
