The other thing that could have something to do with is the seat has a heating element that could act as an antenna and bring in a signal that would not normally be there. Just guessing at this point, nothing else makes sense. It could even be the 2 Pine trees bringing something in. It wouldnt take much to interfere with the FOB. It uses the same 3v battery for a couple of years. The signal cant be very strong to last that long.
Have a buddy ride to your house and see if his does the same thing. At least you'd be able to narrow it down to interference at your location, or your bike.
Talked to my service guy today. He is still waiting to hear back on Harley on this issue. Everything under my control has been checked out. Some neighbors have satellite dishes on their roof and some have WIFI. Don’t see any dog fences or here any dogs that pushed the limit. I am sure there are walk phones and cell phones everywhere. My wife has one in every room. I even have WIFI on my XBOX, Wi, DVD player, router and 2 laptops. It’s a wonder anything has enough of the spectrum left to work. I did request that the module and fobs be replaced to see if that solves the problem. Just have to go through the process with HD. The next thing to do is to use all small numbers to bypass the system until its resolved. I am wearing out my switches with these high numbers.
Do you have a garage door opener? You may have cut power to this when you cut power to your house (?), but the transmitters in your car may be interferring also.
A neighbor with a motion detector light or lights facing your way?????
Those things transmitt waves quite a distance so the fact you turned all the power off in your house (which was a great idea BTW) may not be your house thats affecting you.
So if you pull it into the garage the alarm works??? But if you roll it outside it doesnt??
I make this bad assumption that everyone has a garage.....
Any of your cars have that type alarm when you walk up to the car without touching the car it starts yelling "Warning....stay away......etc??"
Although you moved the cars back, just wondering if you have something transmitting in your immeadiate area.
Lastly do you have a CATV modem with a battery back up in the event power goes out? Is the modem in the garage? Right by where your bike is a few feet away? CATV Modems operate a data freq in the return band somewhere 5 to 40 Meg.....I'm sure the FOB and alarm system is operating down in that sub band area as well......most do.....PLEASE tell us when you nail this one and what it was....
I have finally found the culprit to my HD alarm problem. It took a week of trial and error to isolate it. I would rather not say what it is just yet. I will say it’s not something that will commonly occur without a series of events and probably will not be experienced by anyone else. The reason for not disclosing what I found is there’s always someone who would abuse it. We don’t need pranksters causing problems for everyone. It would be to everyone’s benefit to know your code for disarming the security system and how to do it. With my last bike I never had a problem and got rusty on using the code. I plan on using the code the first of each month to keep it fresh in the memory. You never know when you will need to leave in a hurry and that’s the time things wrong.
I bought my bike used and have only one fob. How do I find out my code?
I'm going off memory only here so correct me if I'm wrong please. I believe you don't need to know the code to enter a new one as long as the bike's security system is disarmed. Therefore you should enter a fresh code that you can remember before you lose the fob.
