I have finally found the culprit to my HD alarm problem. It took a week of trial and error to isolate it. I would rather not say what it is just yet. I will say its not something that will commonly occur without a series of events and probably will not be experienced by anyone else. The reason for not disclosing what I found is theres always someone who would abuse it. We dont need pranksters causing problems for everyone. It would be to everyones benefit to know your code for disarming the security system and how to do it. With my last bike I never had a problem and got rusty on using the code. I plan on using the code the first of each month to keep it fresh in the memory. You never know when you will need to leave in a hurry and thats the time things wrong.
Damn - I'm an electrical engineer by training and I was really looking forward to hearing what the cause was . . .
Thanks again to all for the help and ideas on this issue. I would like to have the time to contact HD and get their thoughts on this and if they say no big deal, than no big deal. I want to give them a chance to respond. I will let you know what they say.

You are killing us with suspense!
But I respect your decision until you make a thorough investigation of the "whole" problem.
Thanx for keeping us updated.
I talked to HD today and they have heard of similar instances where outside RFI will cause the HD pager to not work. In my case it would appear trucks have feelings also. My Suburban was getting back at me for not driving it very much this year due to lack of rain. The battery in the truck went dead and had to be jumped off. The alarm did not like that and in protest quit talking to my remote pager. It’s been trying to phone home and in the process it was jamming the signal from the HD fob. I moved the truck away about 75 ft the first time but it takes about 100 ft before the fob will work. I have removed the fuse from the truck security module and the HD fob worked right away. HD also said that a faulty ground on the car alarm can cause this also. The alarm system I have a Viper car alarm with the 479v remote pager. Once the pager and alarm are married up the problem should go away. I hope this helps anyone that has a similar experience. Know your code to bypass the HD security system. You never know when someone parks close by or the place where you turned your bike off interferes with the FOB.
10-4 Good Buddy! Next week we'll point your power beams at the neighbor's brand new Harley, and watch him dig out all the RFI meters he owns to find the cause...
Some one near me must have a tv remote on same frequency... We often get a multi-channel change, RIGHT in the middle of a good movie!
