Default Slammin' the street glide

First time in the forum. I've been readin' this stuff for awhile.....thought I'd try and get some help. I've read alot of the pro's and cons of aftermarket HD suspension. I just can't give up on the idea of slammin' my 2009 street glide. I had the front end dropped with the 1" drop kit from Harley. Not likin' it much. I have also played around with the air draggers and 440's from Progressive on the rear. I haven't achieved what I've wanted and not impressed with the ride quality at all. What I would like to get is a 1 1/2 - 2" drop in the front and slam the rear when I want. The unending question is can this be accomplished and still retain a reasonable ride? Reasonable to me is smooth over the minor imperfections in the road. You know, all of those nasty cracks and crevices in the highway. With more limited suspension travel, can any product provide a ride that doesn't hammer you to death. I've read alot about the intiminators, race tech front suspension systems, and air rides. What do you guys think??

Drop that frontend that low and you'll bang your fender.
I'm experienced in doing this.

Need to put a travel limiter in the forks if you go that low.

Be prepared to drag some lower stuff in the turns. Which in turn can have negative effects in the handling of your ride!

I have the Arnott air ride system. I can ride my UC slammed or back up to original height or anywhere in between. The 09 has a pipe cross over and I have a center stand that will grab the road if you hit a bump. This can make the back tire loose traction and down you go. I do not feel safe riding a slammed bike on bumpy roads that is why I elected for the air ride. I can raise it back up for performance riding in the twisties. I now have the best of both worlds.

Fatbaggers has a kit that drops the seat for the 2009/2010 touring bikes by 3" by replacing the sub-frame.

I'm not sure if this will give you the same look you're after - but it makes the bike look great and I would think it preserves ride quality.

Here's the link: http://store.fatbaggers.com/20drseco.html

I think you can bang your fender at stock height. But thats a great idea the travel limiter. I want to drop mine also.

I liked the idea of Arnott because they were willing to refund my money if I was dissatisfied with their product. Luckily I changed over to the Samson exhaust system so I don't have that crossover below the frame. How do you feel about the smoothness of your ride with the Arnott system??
