Default first gear clunk fix
A couple days ago I was reading a post about how embarrasing it was to shift into first gear and hearing that big clunk sound. Someone chimed in and suggested holding the clutch in or something to that effect while starting the bike and the clunk sould would be gone.
I have searched and serched but can't seem to find that post! Does anyone know where it might be? Help finding it would be greatly appericated!

Well, I start my bike with the clutch pulled in, and still get the clunk when dropping into first. Added Redline, and it helped a little.

The more miles you get on it the less it will clunk, Redline does help.

Work the clutch in and out a few times to seperate the clutch plates after starting,very silent shift into first.

Mmmm ...tried all the above and the "clunk" on my '08 FLHTC is horrendous! I've learned to live with it ..since it's ..."yep, normal!!!"

I like the clunk into first. On my older bike, it is more of a BANG! Real men ride noisy bikes.
