Default Windshield (Dark Tint or Light Tint)

I've been running a 8" KW Black shield and love it for the warmer months. Now that my mornings have been in the low 30's I've decided it's time to move up to a taller shield for the winter months. I did some research looking at previous threads on here and have narrowed my search down to a Cee Baileys Euro either 15" or 16". I didn't find many comments concerning the dark or light tint though. Alot of my riding from now till spring will be in the dark. I prefer the look of the dark tint, but don't want to sacrifice looks over safety.

Is the dark tint too dark for night riding?

If you have to look through it... I'd go with a lighter tint. Personally, I can NOT look through a windshield at all. Hence the dark tint on mine.

I have a 9.5" Clearview in the dark gray. Only problem I have is pulling into the garage or navigating in close quarters. It can be tough to see things through the dark tints. On the road, it's fine ('cos you ought to be looking OVER the shield).

Agreed, I do intend to look over the shield in lieu of thru it.

For a shield that tall I'd go with the light tint at least. I've got a 8" Long Ride Shield Dark Grey and although I can see over the shield fine, in the dark it gets kind of hard to see anything close to you where you have to look through the shield to see it.

One thing to consider is even if you look over your shield there may be times like on an incline where the angle will cause you to have to look through it. Got a little hairy on my batwing with an 8" dark smoke going up a steep incline at night.
