Thanks to all those that have never received their rightful welcome back to home, I was a year too young to get into the fight but was entering the US Army as it was coming to a close.
My hat will always be off to those that serve(d) our country, they deserve nothing but respect from the rest of us. I did lose a great many friends and friends of friends in those years.

thanks to all the vets. i never served but hold ALL vets in the highest esteem. From those such as my uncles who served in the marines on iwo jima, those in korea, viet nam , and iraq/afghanistan. also do not forgot those "police actions" in between some of the more recognized battles. Lost a cousin in viet nam in 1966 and always wonder what he would have been like in he had survived. he and 50,000 other heroes. GOD BLESS YOU ALL!! GOD BLESS AMERICA!!!

I was at MAC-V HQ from Nov '66-'67. I was in the 266th Army Band. Obviously didn't see much action in that unit, but I traveled the entire country, and played many award ceremonies, and saw a lot of real heroes.
Every Sunday, if I wasn't off on duty, I played at the hospital in Saigon, and saw lives that were forever changed. I saw my share of horror in those young men.
I returned on Nov 7, 1967 and got discharged at Oakland Army Terminal. As soon as I walked off that base, I saw scornful looks at anyone in a uniform. I'll never forget those days.
Here's to all those who made the ultimate sacrifice for their country.
