Hey wnogood,

Are you running true duals by chance?

I just installed V&H Tru Duals, and Oval slipons, this week and now I have the exact same vibration issue. I will try moving my mufflers out a little, but they seem to be in the right place. I thought it was in my head, but rode for 100 miles today and it is vibrating more and at a different frequency, it is annoying. Sorry I couldn't be any help here, but maybe the same symptom, the same cause.

Yes, VH in fact. I just went out and double checked the pipes. Lots of clearance to the brake pedal and floorboards. Checked the rear muffler clamps under the bags...move freely and are centered. The vibration feels harmonic. You can rev the engine in neutral to 2600 or so...and feel it. Not as bad as when you are riding it, but it is there.

Did you add the V&H dual approx 1500 miles ago?

Around the same time you started noticing the vibration?

No, I wish it was that easy. The vibration was gradual at first almost like "Did I feel something just then?" but has gotten much worse. The dealer has had the primary apart ( several times ) and I had an indy shop install the cams and dyno tune. Through all of this....just gradually worse and worse.

The exhaust was installed at 1100 miles. The vibration was first noticed at about 4000 miles. Bike now has 5600 miles....

Someone mentioned cams.....could cams cause a vibration at that speed? Just wondering......

That was me mentioning cams........waaaaaay back in 1974 I added an Andrews EV46 (I think...might have been a 26) to my Dyna Low Rider. It was fast, but it vibrated like a sumbitch, especially at mid-range rpms, and I was more than a little sorry I added the cam because I liked the smoother running of the stock engine. I figure the cams might be giving a harmonic vibration especially noticeable at a specific rpm range..........just a guess.

Not altogether a bad guess. I somehow doubted the possibility considering the fact that the vibration already existed, but it is in the realm. I did notice another clue....the engine almost seems to run a little rough, or maybe skip when you rev it in neutral to 2600 or so trying to detect the vibration. It is really smooth up to 2600 and then it might start to "Flutter" a bit between as you accellerate up through the vibration range. Hmmmmm.......

You could have slung the balancing weight off of your tire. That happened to me about 3 weeks ago.

Just for the helluvit....

Would it be possible to pull the V&H duals and reinstall the factory headpipes with your current slip-ons.... just as a test? That would be a whole bunch quicker & easier than dick'n wiht the cams. It may seem like a bit of a swag, but it seems (from afar) that the pipes would have a higher likelihood of causing it than the cams.

Just a thought....
