Just thinking off the top of my head, but I recall you saying the primary had been on and off several times. What about your primary chain adjustment?

Unless I'm way off base, I believe nogood posted that with his other scoot, the roadglide. He has since seen the light and went with the batwing! So I don't believe he has any issues with this one.

You are correct sir! I cant believe that this thread got dredged up after so long. Harley bought the roadie back, put me on the Ultra ( pictured below ) and other than a blank screen on the radio.....no problems so far. Just waiting to get my break-in miles done on my upgrade so I can get some fresh dyno numbers.....

Had a vibration also at the same RPM. Put new STOCK spark plugs, solved the problem. Apparently the HD's need to have the stock plugs, not the SE plugs or platinum. Apparently the SE plugs I installed caused a slight misfire and caused a vibration around 2500 rpm. I now change my plugs every 3000-5000, runs smooth no vibration.

Please look under the S|E forum and you will see mine, cdslovak, "vibration". I am fighting with HD and dealer, they keep saying they cannot feel the problem. I filed a complaint with the NHTSA yesterday. Call HD 414-343-4056 and get a "reference number". Call me if you want to discuss 713-816-8672. I will not ride the cycle again.

So, nogood?

Which do you like better? U/C or R/G.
I have heard of that upper mount causing low-mid range RPM vibes. Damn Harley's!!! Always something. It's why we love/hate em.

I went around a corner Saturday, slow. There was a slight rut from a poor street repair job. Footboard scraped. No big deal. The frame where the softail swingarm pivots bottomed out. Moved the tire over a few inches. I saw stars for about 10 seconds. One step closer to a Glide.

Most common causes of vibration on a rubber mounted FL. You are describing a hard contact type of vibration.

1) Crossmember under trans pan bent up (from jacking up during tire change or road debris) and close enough to tranny pan to make a hard contact when motor is loaded and shaking at a certain rpm (very common) Gets worse as mounts relax over time and contact becomes greater. Also caused when a rock gets in there on top of the crossmember.
2) Mufffler slid back under bag and hitting bracket (said you checked that)
3) Bad motor mount or seriously misaligned drivetrain.
4) Inner primary contacting frame (see #3)
5) Anything that has fallen and is causing the drivetrain to contact the frame somewhere or anything allowing contact between drivetrain and frame (hard contact) that allows the vibtarions to be trasnferred around the rubber mounting to the rider.
6) Shifted flywheels (not hard contact but can be severe vibrating)

Check all but the flywheels (especially 1 & 5) - let me know. I'll dig through my brain and see what types of stuff I remember

Since you just had your front mount replaced, it may be mis- aligned. I had my front motor mount replaced and after that I had a bad vibration that broke the inner fairing brackets. I checked the alignment of the new mount and discovered it off center. I centered it and the vibration is gone. The manual walks you through this procedure.
FYI those brackets break even when there is no misalignment or bad mount. On FLHT's I always check that thr fairing is solidly mounted - when it feels loose 99% of the time it's the brackets broken.
