I have an 04 RG 1550 stage 1. Can anyone tell me anything more about these 25 injectors...do they provide more fuel; does it address leanout problems or improve low speed smoothness; will you require remapping?
What do I tell my dealer to get my injectors replaced with the new ones for my '06 Street Glide?
The trick seems to be to tell the dealer you've had all the symptoms: hard cold starting, engine dying, seems to be running real hot and lean.
Then tell him you just heard about this issue that has something to do with the injectors. 8 degree and 25 degree or something.
Bottom line if your dealer thinks you just want them cuz you heard about them then they will probably say no. But if you say the problem was from day one and you play dumb and say you just heard about it, it gives the dealer the chance to play hero and increases your chance of having them swapped under warranty for free.
I had mine replaced at my dealer last saturday. I explained to them that my bike was very slow to warm up with misfiring and dying at intersections and backfiring through the intake. They replaced them with no hassle at all and gladly explained that it was a warranty issue and there would be no cost to me. I didn't even have to tell them anything more even though I went armed with the sevice bulletin in my pocket and was ready to try and persuade them to exchange the injectors. They changed them in about an hour and I was on the road again. The bike seems to perform a lot better now with crisper throttle response and no coughing during warm up. I even notice better gas mileage now.
Hey all. I have a 99 RK classic. Am I a candidate for the 25 degree injectors or is this just something for the newer bikes. Mine seems to run fine. Thanks.
